I think this sums it up perfectly: "I believe that giving money to a business that goes against our ethical values is like directly contributing to the very issues we object." Indeed. This came up recently at my office, when I explained that I will no longer eat at Chick-Fil-A. There being a dearth of non-corporate/non-fast-food chains near my office, I used to eat there on occasion. People in the office thought I was over-reacting and even mocked a bit. Then I said, "Listen: Eat wherever you want. But if you eat there, please think about how you'll explain to your gay friends why they can't and shouldn't be allowed to marry. If you can eat at Chick-Fil-A, I guess you've got that explanation all figured out." No one in my office eats there any longer. What a great post.
