I agree with Sabrina. Though I’m not a mommy blogger either, I think of the issues you raise here and how I set my own boundaries as a blogger. I made the decision to use fake names/identities for the people in my life because I don’t want to exploit anyone either for the sake of a blog post. I think you very eloquently stated that what works for some may not work for you. I see nothing wrong with posting certain private things on the internet either, but there has to be a level of comfort there.

I wanted to thank you so much for stopping by on my SITS day and for leaving such a sweet and thoughtful comment. It meant the world to me and bloggers like you are what keep me here. Thank you so much and hope you’re enjoying your weekend :)

I'm not a mommy blogger, but I found myself nodding my head in agreement with your post. I think your boundaries are really smart!

I think this is an excellent and important post. I very much appreciate the boundaries set by AYMB, and not just because I and the Monkey benefit directly from them. I like those boundaries because they help make AYMB a more enjoyable and meaningful blog for me as a subscriber.

What I mean is that those boundaries also, in many ways, force this blog into being both more substantive and more universal. Pictures of and stories about others' kids are cute and sometimes interesting in the same way reality TV is. But, like reality tv, that voyeuristic experience begins and ends with the show. You don't really leave more informed, more curious, or more introspective.

This blog quite effectively relates the rare story of the Monkey not so much as a form of show-and-tell, but instead always as a platform for discussing a broader issue -- an issue that is more than just about OUR kid our OUR lives, but hopefully also about everyone else's, too.
