I am pediatrician, and worked my twenties away to achieve this. Now I have two kids and work VERY VERY part-time so I can stay home with them during the week. Although I love being with them, I always feel pressure to work more hours, earn more money, build my career. But I made this choice to be at home; it was not forced on me or a "given" just because I'm a woman. And that is feminism at its best. This resonated with me. I am lucky that my career allows me to do that, but I wouldn't miss those wonderful moments of being with my children for the world. I knew before I gave birth that having a family was important to me, and that I wouldn't want to work and pay for childcare full time as that would mean missing out. When the girls are older, I will happily work more, or change what I do for a living.
