My mother took me with her to vote several times when I was a child. I think it's a really good thing.

Great post! We walked to the polls, too, with Tweenie and Little Man in tow. I thought that now that she’s 15, not-so-Tweenie might not be to down with the idea, but both kids were happy to indulge in our family’s election day tradition. Both kids miss the ka-thunk of the old punch-voting machines (we used to let them actually punch the ballot once we had it lined up), preferring that to the optical voting where you just connect the arrow. The conversations leading up to the day are fantastic, and Tweenie was talking about how it’s only 3 years until she gets to be voting, too! Guess it’s working. Wonderful post.

Hi! Stopping by from SITS to say hello! I love seeing the youngsters at the polls. Down here they have a whole program for the kids – in the smaller precincts they get their own little mock ballot and a spot to place their votes while mom and dad vote!

I loved taking my daughter with me for the primary when I voted for HRC, and I loved taking my older son when I voted for Obama. To think that a woman could possibly be President, and that an African-American CAN, were incredibly historical moments and I’m glad my kids were part of it, even though they won’t remember.

stopping by from SITS and I took my youngest daughter with me to vote today. I have always voted and mY kids are aware that voting makes a choice , because if we don't do anything or don't speak up , then who will if all that we do is complain.

I totally agree with this. Its so important to teach our children at an early age to be involved with their community and country, to be apart of the conversation.
