I have been a longtime subscriber to Marie Claire magazine. I always loved the fact that in addition to fashion, they focused on issues that were important to us as women. After reading that article, I was turned off. Yes, overweight people exist in this country. They sometimes happen to fall in love, get married and have children. I was appalled that someone would be so repulsed by their physical appearance that they would feel the need to draw this sort of negative attention to it. What’s next, demanding that “unsightly people in wheelchairs” be banned from the mall? I will most certainly not be renewing my subscription with Marie Claire. I am sure I can find another magazine to fill its slot when the time comes. Sorry for such a long-winded response.

That is just awful :( I am only hearing about this now but am outraged that Marie Claire would approve of something like this. Young girls already have such unhealthy body issues; this is a horrible message to send to them.

Oy, when I see articles like this it just irks me. Being the father of a daughter I hate knowing that there are so many mixed messages being sent at our girls.

Great response to the article. I read about it on CNN and could not believe that Marie Claire would allow such a horrible article to be published. It was a terrible message to send, especially to all their readers who struggle with body issues which I'm guessing is quite a few.
