I was stopping by from SITS when I saw this post. I wrote about the exact same thing last week! I was floored when I saw the lawsuit/refund issue and couldn’t believe parents would actually be looking for a refund.

I couldn’t agree with you more! It’s just movies, not a Harvard education! My son enjoyed them also, but I never expected him to get up and preform open heart sugery after a show!

Sounds like your kids grew up in the same era as me. I spent most of my childhood outside without fear. Kids today won’t ever have that innocent way of life. My neighborhood is filled with children but you don’t ever see them playing outside. It’s actually very creepy!

My kids were little in the days before DVD’s and even before VCR’s. They played outside in their sandbox, rode their tricycles up and down the driveway, buitl treehouses, caught frogs and bugs, and on rainy days, built things with blocks, and played with matchbox cars. When they reached 10 and 12, we bought a VCR and rented kid movies a couple of times a week. They did watch Sesame Street and the Electric company, but that was about it for TV. Fortunately, they were little in a time when there weren’t pervs on every street courner waiting for parents to turn their backs so they could snatch or molest kids. It’s sad that today it’s become risky to let your kids out of the house unsupervised!

First and foremost, it’s great to finally see a comment from THE Dude. It means you actually read my blog. =)

As usual, you make some excellent points. You have also provided me with some good material for an upcoming blog post – how to prep your kids for the Ivy League. As someone who actually went to Harvard (sans violin and Mandarin lessons), I believe you’ll be a perfect example to showcase. Hope you don’t mind. And, if you do, we’ll discuss over dinner tonight.
